As AI moves from simple question-and-answer applications toward autonomous systems, software engineers are increasingly required to understand how AI agents interact with APIs, databases, enterprise data and other tools.
A recent News Live article highlights five Agentic AI certification programs aimed at professionals looking to build tool-connected AI systems, covering areas such as RAG, memory, orchestration, multi-agent systems, monitoring and governance.
1. IIT Bombay – Certificate in Agentic AI
The five-month online program focuses on building production-oriented AI agents. The curriculum covers Python, RAG, vector databases, MCP, LangGraph, CrewAI, monitoring, deployment, guardrails and human-in-the-loop systems.
The program is positioned for software, AI, data and technology professionals who want to move from LLM fundamentals toward autonomous and multi-agent applications.
2. IIIT Bangalore – Executive PG Programme in Applied AI and Agentic AI
The seven-month program combines conventional AI engineering with Agentic AI. It covers machine learning, deep learning, MLOps, RAG, LangChain, LangGraph, LlamaIndex, multi-agent systems, governance and monitoring.
The program also emphasizes production deployment through projects and capstones rather than limiting learning to experimental notebooks.
3. University of Texas at Austin – AI Agents and Generative AI for Business Applications
This 13-week program focuses on connecting AI agents with practical business workflows. It includes Python, n8n, LangChain, LangGraph, LangSmith, RAG, MCP, ReAct and multi-agent systems.
The program covers applications such as customer support, logistics, document processing and operational automation, with both coding and no-code learning paths.
4. IISc – Advanced Certification Programme in Agentic and Generative AI
The six-month IISc program takes a broader approach, combining LLMs, multimodal AI, Agentic AI, MCP, agent communication, fine-tuning, guardrails, responsible AI and LLMOps.
Its focus extends beyond building agents to areas such as scalable serving, optimization and responsible deployment.
5. Symbiosis Centre for Distance Learning – Certificate in Agentic AI and Software Solutions
The three-month program is designed around AI workflows and software automation. Topics include API-based tool integration, Agentic AI frameworks, LangGraph, CrewAI, multi-agent systems and AI-assisted software development.
Its shorter format makes it an option for software professionals looking for a more compact introduction to Agentic AI engineering.
Why Agentic AI skills are becoming important
The key difference between conventional GenAI applications and Agentic AI is the ability to take action rather than simply generate an answer.
An agent may need to retrieve information, maintain state, call an API, access enterprise data, coordinate with other agents and recover from failures. As a result, engineers increasingly need knowledge across RAG, memory, tool permissions, orchestration, evaluation, state management and governance.
The growing number of Agentic AI courses also reflects a broader shift in software engineering: developers are increasingly being asked to build AI systems that can operate within real-world applications and business workflows, not just isolated AI demonstrations.
